Stores and duty-free shops that are in the airport sell a variety of things including: crosswords or crossword puzzles; newspapers, magazines and other publications; chocolates and candy; designer shoes and bags; clothes; wine and cigarettes; perfume and other toiletries; and even eyewear and designer Sunglasses like Gucci Sunglasses. As a matter of fact, there are times when these items and more are cheaper compared to when you buy them at the retail stores outside of the airport, making more people to actually include visiting duty-free shops on their schedule before taking off or upon arriving at the airport.

Aside from shopping and buying different food items and merchandise while staying at the airport, people are also drawn to try the restaurants and coffee shops. For instance, people who would be taking a flight that would only last an hour would usually not have a meal on board so what they do is they eat at the airport so that they would not go hungry once they are on the plane, avoiding having to purchase the expensive food on planes. There are also some who choose to hold business meetings at the airport before taking their flight so they dine at a restaurant which offers wi-fi or wireless internet services, allowing them to connect to the internet or to plug in their laptop computers as they do or refer to some presentations. Some people who are leaving for another for good or for a long time for a job would often like to have some kind of farewell meal with their loved ones so they usually dine at a restaurant in the airport with their friends and family hours before their flight. Some just have a lot of time on their hands waiting for their flight and have nowhere else to go, so they choose to stay at a coffee shop while reading a newspaper, a book or magazine, which would actually be great way to kill some time.
