Bordering the North Sea and the Baltic Sea Germany lies within central Europe, and is positioned between Poland and the Netherlands to the south side of Denmark. The population of people is not entirely German, it is made up of German, Turkish , , Italian, Yugoslavian and Greek. Germany can easily be reached from the United Kingdom, and is a short flight from taking off to landing, taking little over an hour. There is lots to see and do in and around Germany, there are many vibrant cities which boast fantastic architecture, medieval villages, wine making areas and nightlife. At certain times of the year beer festivals are on hand to refresh . The currency in Germany is the Euro. There are many airport in Germany; Berlin Schoenefeld, Berlin Tegel, Bremen Airport, Cologne-Bonn Airport, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Friedrichshafen, Hamburg and Hanover to name but a few.

Stepping off the plane in Germany immediately takes you back 20 years. Shops such as C & A still exist over in Germany, in certain areas there is no necessity for food orders being delivered from the supermarket, and small shops such as bakers, butchers, and florists are still making a decent living, as supermarkets don’t seem to have had an overall monopoly everywhere like England.

There are many places to visit over in Germany, and one thing that is certainly different to Britain is that everything seems to run with the up most efficiency. The food is different also. There are still the fast food outlets over here such as MacDonalds and Burger King but other food does vary. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and this is served up in a somewhat continental fashion, with fresh bread and a choice of spreads being available for consumption. Usually the mere mention of German food brings images such as sauerkraut, bratwurst and beer to mind. The main meal of the day in Germany is lunch which is usually eaten around noon. Germany is also known for its coffee and cake in the afternoon, it is traditional for people to eat this, mid afternoon, before a light tea.
